yalanımın sonu yok lan.
'I just realized that I left
a big part of the rakı culture when I was telling you about how to drink it. You
cling rakı glasses too when you say cheers. The word for cheers in Turkish is 'şerefe',
which literally means that you are drinking to honor (this contributes to the
whole rakı being a heavy drink.) (I just realized I could easily write an essay
on this.) There are two ways of clinging rakı glasses. Both result in the
glasses clinging twice and not once. This also means that while clinging,
glasses should be on the same level (I believe there is a respect aspect to
this.). One way is that you hold the glasses from the top and swing them in
such a way that their bottoms cling twice. The other way (the way I learned it)
it that you hold the glasses from the bottom (which is supposed to be the
heavier part of the glass) and cling the thinner parts-without breaking them.
Another thing about clinging rakı glasses is that you do it only once in a
meal, and after you cling them, you also put them on the table before drinking
to remember those who are not with you.' 2:15 am Tuesday Oct 15
